Our Requirements
What vaccinations do you require?
Rabies, Distemper/Parvovirus, and Bordetella are the three vaccinations required for your dog to visit us at the Ranch. We encourage the canine influenza and leptospirosis vaccinations but do not require them. All vaccinations must be current at the time of boarding, grooming, or day play. We require hard copies from your vet before, your first visit and ongoing updates when they are re-vaccinated. For your convenience, vaccination documents can be emailed to info@roverwoodranch.com by you or your vet. We can not accept dogs without current vaccination records.
What about a Spay/Neuter policy?
To ensure the safety of all day play guests, females must be spayed, and males must be neutered once out of puppyhood. We realize that many vets are suggesting waiting longer to spay or neuter your pet and that's fine, we totally understand! Our policy is based on experience rather than medical or anecdotal advice. We see dogs unfairly targeted because of simply not being "fixed." Heightened tension in the group environment makes the overall energy harder to safely manage. Males that are not neutered and females in heat potentially add cleaning time. Incidences of humping increase making some dogs uncomfortable. And lastly, the risk of unintentional pregnancy, unintentional "locking on," or other such accidents, work to reinforce our policy.
Do you have a flea/tick prevention policy?
We require all dogs to be on a flea/tick preventive. Dogs found with fleas and/or ticks will be sent home from day play. If your dog is boarding or being groomed, he/she will be given a flea bath, or treated with Capstar (oral flea control) at the additional cost of $10 per treatment. Repeat offenders will not being allowed back. The type of preventative is up to you, and there are a lot of products to choose from. Consult your vet for suggestions. If applying topical ointments, please wait a day or two before bringing to day play to protect your dogs’ playmates from ingesting harmful chemicals. Flea collars will be removed while in day play but will be put back on when it’s time to go home.
