Roverwood Ranch FAQs
What vaccines are required?
For the safety of all our guests, Roverwood Ranch requires up-to-date proof of Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccinations for every dog entering our facility for daycare, boarding, or grooming services. We must have these records on file before arrival. For your convenience, vaccination documents can be emailed to info@roverwoodranch.com by you or your vet. We cannot accept dogs without current vaccination records.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we require appointments for all services -- boarding, day care and grooming. We are a small place and take managing the different canine personalities very seriously. Usually you can call (913) 250-0808 the day before.
What is a Howdy Do Day?
A Howdy-Do Day (temperament test) is recommended prior to regular visits or overnight stays at Roverwood Ranch. This allows us to ensure your pawtner will be able to play with our other guests safely. Please contact us to schedule a time to bring in your dog. We prefer that your dog stays with us for 1-2 hours.
When can I drop off or pick up?
We work like a hotel, with drop-off in the afternoons (1 - 6 pm) and pick-up in the mornings (7 am - Noon) Monday through Friday. If you would like an earlier drop-off time or later pick-up time, just let us know and usually we can accommodate you for the price of a half day of play ($20). During the weekends, pick-ups and drop-offs are allowed anytime during normal business hours. We are closed on all major holidays.
What can I bring with my dog for an overnight stay?
All suites come with a raised Kuranda bed for your dog’s comfort. Dogs like having something that smells like home—such as a blanket, bed, one of your old t‑shirts, or a favorite toy. You are welcome to bring your dog’s food, toys, bedding, or anything else you think will make their stay more comfortable. We have plenty of bowls that we sanitize after every use, so you can leave yours at home.
What about food?
We encourage you to bring your dog’s own food so their tummy stays happy and their routine stays the same. Please bring enough for their entire stay, pre‑portioned if possible, and let us know about any allergies or special feeding instructions. If you prefer, we can provide our house food for an additional fee. We do have a full-sized refrigerator and freezer for your convenience.
What if my dog doesn't like other dogs?
We know not all dogs like the group environment and prefer to be on their own. However, if your dog is truly stressed out by the presence of other dogs, this may not be the place for you. While we love all dogs, boarding a non-social dog here may be too much for them to handle.
What happens when my dog comes home?
Dogs staying at Roverwood Ranch get a lot of exercise and stimulation. While we monitor them closely for signs of extreme fatigue, oftentimes they are tired for a few days after coming home, especially after a long stay. Bowel changes can sometimes happen too. Water is provided in several locations at all times, but sometimes dogs will drink more than usual when they get home.
What is your spay/neuter policy?
We ask that all dogs are spayed or neutered by the age of one year or when they start showing signs of maturity (heat cycle, mounting, etc.).
We ask new clients to complete a New Client Information Form and copies of your pet's vaccination records before your dog's first stay, first grooming appointment or first day of play (Howdy-do Day). You, or your vet, can email the form and/or the vaccination records to info@roverwoodranch.com. Better yet, come take a tour and bring the documents with you.
